Rest & Reparations
Labor and constant caretaking unjustly define the existence of so many Black femmes from the day we are born, and the effects of this are so insidious.
I want to dare to dream up a life of pleasure, rest, and thriving.
I do not dream of an ethos of liberation in which Black femmes are expected to suffer and run ourselves into the ground, while everyone around us grows in their wealth as a result of their proximity to us β financial wealth, spiritual wealth, intellectual wealth, and beyond.
I dream of play, rest, delectable softness, and unabashed pampering. I dream of a lifestyle of leisure & care that affords me the space to heal, and to savor the nectars of life that Black femmes are expected to harvest for everyone else. πΊπ
I dream of a world where we might live more like hummingbirds than mules; treated like divinity and waited on hand and foot, rather than the footstools of the world.
I invite you to support that below.
